Katherine Mary Edie, 64 died on September 15, 2014 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Manchester following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Great Barrington, Massachusetts on August 24, 1950, a daughter of Harry and Jadviga (Kubica) Murah. She grew up in Housatonic, Mass where she attended local schools. She furthered her education at Rivier College in Nashua, New Hampshire. Following College, she taught school in Keene, New Hampshire and then joined the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, she was stationed in Memphis, TN, Iceland, and Florida. After serving her Country, she worked for a logistics firm in Florida. She moved to Ashland 19 years ago. She was an avid quilter donating her work to many people. She enjoyed reading and visiting with her great nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughter Mary-Katherine Edie of Ashland, four sisters, Barbara DuBrosky of Florida, Bernice Sanders of Ashland, Carolyn Murah of Rumney, and Melanie Mardin of Ashland; one brother Bennie Murah of Connecticut and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at the Dupuis Funeral Home, 11 Hill Avenue in Ashland. A literagy of the word service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 10 am at the Holy Trinity Parish, St Agnes Catholic Church, Hill Avenue in Ashland.
