Arthur Howard Marcroft 95, died at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth on April 22, 2015 following a brief illness. Born in Ashland on November 11, 1919, he was the son of Samuel and Emma [Cross] Marcroft. Arthur was raised in Ashland attended Ashland Schools and was a graduate of Ashland High School.
Arthur was employed at L.W. Packard in Ashland for 30 years, retiring as General Manager. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Arthur was a 60 year member of Mt. Prospect Masonic Lodge, member of the Ashland First Free Will Baptist Church, Dupuis-Cross Post #15 American Legion, he served on the Ashland Fire Department, and on the Ashland School board. He was a member of the Pemi-Baker Fish & Game Club, and was involved in the organization of the Ashland Booster Club. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing, and traveling and camping with his wife Grace and family. He was predeceased by brothers Samuel Marcroft, and Roger Marcroft, by sisters Clara Cilley, and Marguerite Marcroft.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Grace[ Gould] Marcroft of Ashland, three sons, David Marcroft and wife Shirley of Ashland, Dana Marcroft and wife Anna Marie of Portsmouth, and Dean Marcroft and wife Deb of Ashland, a daughter Alison Paquette and husband Doug of Belmont. Twelve grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
