Arnold Edward Boynton, 77, a resident of the NH Veterans Home, Tilton, died Friday August 26 at Lakes Region General Hospital, following a period of declining health.
Arnold was born March 27, 1939 in Meredith to the late Nathaniel and Leona (Shaw) Boynton. He had resided most of his life in New Hampton and Ashland. He attended the Plaisted one-room school in New Hampton and later Ashland schools. He had been a resident of the Veterans Home since 2015.
Arnold was a Veteran, having served in the Army, assigned to the 159th Transportation Division. His service, including tours of duty during the Vietnam War, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Bar and Sharpshooter Medal for the M-14. He was employed for many years by L W Packard Co. in Ashland.
In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by sisters Beryle Buzzell, Martha Phinney and Eloise Wallace; brothers Warren Boynton Sr. and Everett Boynton. He is survived by brothers Joseph and Bryan of New Hampton, David of Meredith; sister Gertrude of Belmont; an Aunt, Margaret (Shaw) Pickering of Ashland; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held Friday September 9, 2016 from 7-9 PM at the Dupuis Funeral Home, 11 Hill Ave. in Ashland. A Committal Service with Military Honors will be held Saturday September 10, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Green Grove Cemetery, Ashland.
